Deuteronomy 22:5 ~ Women Wearing Pants?


Deuteronomy 22:5

The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God.

The phrase “that which pertaineth,” in the King James Version of the Bible, is translated from the Hebrew word keliy, which means “article, vessel, implement, or utensil.”

Translators commonly render keliy as weapon, armor or instrument in the Old Testament.  The word man, in both the first and last part of Deut 22:5, is the Hebrew word geber meaning “man, strong man, or warrior (emphasizing strength or ability to fight).”

 It is important to notice that this is not the only word for man in Hebrew. Verse 13 of this very same chapter uses the Hebrew word 'iysh, which is also translated man and means just that – “man, male (in contrast to woman, female).”

  It is apparent that Moses, when writing Deut 22:5, was intentionally not talking about a man in general, but a very specific kind of man – namely, a warrior or soldier. If you replace the word pertaineth with the Hebrew word weapon, or armor, and the word man with warrior, here is how it would read:

 “The woman shall not put on [the weapons/armor of a warrior], neither shall a [warrior] put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.”

The original, before it was translated into English.

Its meaning is forbidding women to put on a military habit and going with men to war rather than distinction of male and female garments.

"FIRST PAIR OF PANTS MADE FOR MAN"?

The argument of the first pair of pants was made for man, can be contradicted by saying the first pair of pants called breeches was made for the use of undergarments, not to be seen! They were worn under the priest’s robe. Then is it wrong to say we “all” male and female need to quit running around in our undies and put our robes back on. Which, by the way, were made typically the same. T-shirts were made for undergarments too.

The difference in robes was determined by royalty, harlotry, mourning and priestly office. Not by male or female references.
I don’t think God created the skins for Eve and Adam distinctively, Eve with leopard and Adam with tiger so you can tell the difference in male and female. He made them to HIDE their nakedness. This was the sole purpose of garments.

SKIRTS
Does it make a difference whether the first garment was made for man or woman? Did you know men wore skirts in the Old Testament! Ladies off with the skirts, go back to the full robes. ???  Were is the line drawn?

Are You Skilled in God's Word



I stand amazed at how many times I’ve crossed the path of Christians that know nothing about the bible. I’m just being honest. There are dozens of scriptures concerning the knowledge of God.

In the Hebrew meaning of knowledge it used words like perception, skill, discernment, understanding, wisdom.

Can you discern God’s word?
      Put each of those words in the reading of the bible. Would you consider yourself a person of knowledge in God’s word? Do you have discernment in God’s word? Catch sight of what is being taught in that reading? 
      I know of lot of people are thinking that it “comes by revelation”.  But my question is, are you opening your bible to gain revelation? He sent the words for us to study and show ourselves approved. When we are thirsty we get a glass of water and drink. God has set the glass of water before you, you are the one who has to pick up the glass and drink from it.


God doesn’t require you to be a genius, 
but He wants you to search the scriptures. 

COLOSSIANS 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

JOHN 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.


PROVERBS 1:7 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction.  3    Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, [and] liftest up thy voice for understanding;  4    If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as [for] hid treasures;  5    Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

When I Stand Before God

  Opinions won't matter, when I stand before my Savior. He will know if I loved Him by the way I kept His commandments.  




John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

   

 Whether I sit under a famous minister, or a little storehouse building won't even concern Him.

    When I've been told that I've went overboard when it comes to the Bible, He will tell me, "well done, my child".
     I don't have to have the "fancy" name brand clothes to please Him. My simple and modest clothing is appealing to Him. 
    Most important of all, I trusted Him with all my being. I believed in Him. I walked in His paths of righteousness with my whole heart. 
    I've made mistakes, went off the path of guidance but He always waited for me to return, with open arms of love. 
    So when I stand before God, I won't need anyone to back me up, or lift me up. I won't have a program, or a denomination to guide me along. It will be just me and Jesus!
